Aroma: citrus zest, green herbs, white stone fruit, volcanic chalk

Palate: lemon, apple, saline mineral, chalky texture

Archineri is Pietradolce's benchmark Etna Bianco Superiore: pure Carricante of nervy mineral tension, citrus brightness and the chalky volcanic finesse that defines Milo-area white wines.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled sea bream with lemon and caper
The mineral purity and bright citrus notes bridge the clean flavours of sea bream.
  • Raw scampi with Sicilian olive oil
Saline character mirrors the oceanic sweetness; bright acidity highlights the olive oil.
  • Fresh cheese and herb crostini
Light herbaceous notes complement the fresh cheese; acidity keeps the combination clean.

History

Michele Faro planted Carricante on the east slope in the Archineri contrada when establishing Pietradolce in 2005, aiming to produce a benchmark Etna Bianco Superiore comparable to Benanti's Pietramarina. The wine is named for the contrada and has established itself among the finest white wines produced on the volcano.
