Palate: rich fruit, vanilla, clove

Deep red Agiorgitiko from the Koutsi sub-zone, aromatically clear and complex, with rich body, structure, fattiness and a long finish.

What it pairs with

  • Slow-roasted lamb with oregano
The barrique-derived vanilla and clove frame the herb crust while the firm tannins cut the fat.
  • Beef stifado with pearl onions
The wine's concentration and structure stand up to the long-simmered sweet onion and tomato base.
  • Aged graviera cheese
The cheese's salt crystals sharpen the wine's red fruit and soften the oak.

How to serve Ktima Gaias

Allow 30 minutes from open to pour.

  1. Open and decant. Decant into a wide carafe at least 30 minutes before serving, as the producer specifies.
  2. Serve at cellar temperature. Pour at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius so the alcohol stays in balance with the oak spice.
  3. Choose a large bowl. A wide Bordeaux-style glass gives the vanilla and clove room to lift out of the dense fruit.
  4. Pair with the food. Roast lamb, beef stifado or aged graviera match the wine's structure and fattiness.
