Kabir is Donnafugata's lighter Pantelleria sweet wine: fresher and less concentrated than Ben Rye, from Zibibbo grapes dried for a shorter period, producing a floral, juicy dessert wine of great charm.

What it pairs with

  • Fresh fruit salad with mint
The wine's floral freshness and light sweetness are a natural companion for fresh fruit.
  • Light fruit sorbet
The wine's brightness and medium sweetness pair perfectly with fruity frozen desserts.
  • Almond pastries
Floral apricot notes and gentle honey sweetness complement Sicily's almond pastry tradition.

History

Kabir (from the Arabic for 'great') was introduced in 1998 as the more approachable companion to Ben Rye in the Donnafugata Pantelleria range, using Zibibbo grapes with a shorter drying period to preserve more fresh fruit character. The wine fills the gap between the full intensity of a Passito di Pantelleria and a regular dry white.
