Aroma: mountain herbs, dark plum, iron, smoky minerality, leather

Palate: blackberry, grilled meat, earthy spice, firm tannins, long mineral finish

A structured, mineral Gigondas from high-altitude garrigue parcels; more austere and herb-driven than fruit-forward, with excellent ageing potential.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled lamb ribs with herbes de Provence
Mountain herb notes find a natural match with herb-crusted lamb.
  • Slow-roasted wild boar with juniper
Firm structure and iron notes complement gamey wild boar.

History

Domaine Santa Duc has farmed the Gigondas hillsides since 1874. The Prestige des Hautes Garrigues cuvee draws from the highest altitude parcels in the appellation, where garrigue and mineral notes dominate. Yves Gras runs the estate today.

  1. 1993 — Prestige des Hautes Garrigues established as a distinct high-altitude cuvee
