A Cabernet-focused red from the volcanic slopes of the Euganean Hills. The Colli Euganei DOC allows Cabernet varieties and Vignalta's version shows the distinctive mineral thread of volcanic soil combined with the classic Cabernet Franc herbal character.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled ribeye steak
Firm tannins and dark fruit are the classic pairing for grilled red meat.
  • Lamb and vegetable stew
Herbal Cabernet Franc notes complement the herbs in a slow-cooked stew.

History

Vignalta began cultivating Cabernet varieties on the Euganean Hills in the early 1980s, recognising that the volcanic basalt soils suited Bordeaux varieties. The standard Cabernet expression predates Gemola and serves as the estate's accessible red entry point for the Colli Euganei DOC.

  1. 1985 — Vignalta releases first Cabernet from the Colli Euganei DOC from volcanic basalt plots.
