In the glass
Aroma: ripe red fruit, spices, herbs

Bright deep garnet with intense viscosity, ripe red fruit and complex spice and herb aromas from long barrique and bottle ageing, dense and round with velvety tannins and a long chocolate and cinnamon aftertaste.
What it pairs with
-
Roast lamb
Semeli names roast lamb; the velvety tannins and marmalade depth handle the fat. -
Spit-roasted meats
The producer recommends charcoal grilled and spit roasted meats, which meet the toasted-bread register. -
Hard yellow cheese
Semeli suggests hard yellow or creamy cheeses; the noted acidity provides the balance. -
Beef short rib
Long barrique ageing gives the frame that a slow-braised rib needs.
How to serve Semeli Nemea Grande Reserve
Allow 45 minutes from open to pour.
- Open and decant. Decant for 45 minutes on younger vintages; the wine has already had two years in bottle before release.
- Serve at 15 to 16 degrees. Semeli specifies this band, which holds the chocolate and cinnamon notes in balance with the acidity.
- Use a large red glass. A wide bowl gives the spice and herb layers from long barrique ageing room to open.
- Pair with the food. Roast lamb, spit-roasted meats or hard yellow cheese, as the producer recommends.
