Full-bodied Smaragd Grüner Veltliner from the central Spitz estate: classic white pepper, ripe pear and citrus blossom with clean mineral finish.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled veal with herb butter
Pepper spice and full body match the richness of grilled veal.
  • Fried carp with potato salad
Classic Wachau pairing: peppery Grüner with the region's traditional fried carp.
  • Soft goat's cheese with herbs
Citrus and pepper in the wine complement fresh herb-crusted goat's cheese.

History

The Özelt family estate in central Spitz has been producing Grüner Veltliner and Riesling since 1865. The Smaragd tier represents the estate's most serious production from older-vine terraced sites above the Danube.
