Palate: candied citrus, apricot jam, floral honey, saline mineral

Capofaro's Malvasia delle Lipari Passito is produced at one of Italy's most dramatically situated wineries, with terrace vines overlooking Stromboli. The Tasca d'Almerita winemaking precision elevates the passito style with clean, precise floral-honeyed concentration and the distinctive volcanic mineral signature of Salina.

What it pairs with

  • Cannoli di ricotta con scorzette di arancia
The wine's orange blossom and candied citrus notes are the definitive match for Sicilian ricotta cannoli.
  • Semifreddo di pistacchio (pistachio semifreddo)
Floral honey notes and apricot sweetness complement the pistachio's grassy richness.
  • Fresh strawberry tart
The wine's floral sweetness and volcanic mineral note bridge the fresh pastry and berry combination.

History

Tasca d'Almerita established the Capofaro estate on Salina in 2000, creating what is now recognised as one of Italy's most dramatic wine-hotel experiences. The Malvasia delle Lipari Passito was produced from the first vintage in 2002, drawing on the estate's terrace vineyards trained in the traditional alberello pantesco system with the Tyrrhenian Sea as backdrop.
