Aroma: exotic spice, jasmine, dark fruit, garrigue, olive brine

Palate: ripe fig, concentrated cherry, smoked herb, velvet tannins, long mineral finish

A biodynamic Grenache of great purity; seductive, perfumed, and silky with exotic spice and concentrated fruit on a long, refined mineral finish.

What it pairs with

  • Leg of lamb slow-roasted with saffron and spice
Exotic spice notes in the wine echo the aromatic North-African-inflected lamb.
  • Grilled duck magret
Silky tannins and concentrated cherry fruit complement duck breast.

History

Domaine de Marcoux is one of Chateauneuf's earliest and most committed biodynamic estates, converted by Sophie and Catherine Armenier. The Vieilles Vignes cuvee from 80+ year-old Grenache vines is the estate's most celebrated wine.

  1. 1990 — Vieilles Vignes cuvee first produced from the oldest Grenache at Marcoux
  2. 1995 — Full biodynamic conversion completed at Domaine de Marcoux
