Aroma: mature plum, leather, tobacco, dried flowers

Palate: mature dark cherry, cedar, earthy mineral, balsamic

Mature, complex Gran Reserva from Bodegas Reyes, requiring patience but rewarding with leather, tobacco and balsamic complexity from 24 months oak and 36 months minimum in bottle.

What it pairs with

  • Roast suckling lamb with garlic and herbs
The wine's mature, complex character needs a classic Castilian roast at table.
  • Game bird with mushroom and truffle sauce
Leather, tobacco and balsamic notes find their echo in the gamey bird and earthy sauce.
  • Manchego Curado
Mature tannins and dried-fruit character pair with medium-aged cured sheep's cheese.

History

The Gran Reserva from Bodegas Reyes represents the peak of the estate's traditional ageing philosophy: 24 months in French oak and a minimum 36 months in bottle before release. Only made in exceptional vintages, this is the Pedrosa de Duero style at its most traditional.

  1. 2001 — First Teofilo Reyes Gran Reserva released after extended cellar ageing
