Complex and delicate varietal Alfrocheiro: raspberry, sour cherry and cranberry with rose and woodland flowers, and a fine, layered palate.
The nose shows raspberry, sour cherry, wild blackberry, vanilla, woodland flowers, cranberry and rose, fruit that moves between fresh and ripe with extreme complexity and elegance. The palate is fine, elegant and delicate with several layers of forest and black fruit, spice rising at the finish, and a tannin that is marked but ripe and slender.
Alfrocheiro alone, certified DOC Dão at Grande Reserva level.
Its delicacy suits roast partridge, veal with wild mushrooms or duck rillettes rather than heavily charred red meat.
