Aroma: cherry blossom, tobacco leaf, dark berry, white pepper, cedar

Palate: fine-boned tannin, juicy red fruit, high acidity, mineral earthiness

Kir-Yianni's single-vineyard Naoussa PDO Xinomavro, built on lighter estate soils for a finer-boned, more fragrant style than the estate's blended cuvees.

What it pairs with

  • Charcoal-grilled lamb
The wine's firm, dense tannin has enough grip to match char and fat without being flattened.
  • Kontosouvli
Slow-turned pork on the spit has a smoky crust that meets the cedar and pepper notes head on.
  • Aged kefalotyri
The cheese's salt sharpens the wine's red fruit and softens the tannin.

History

Released since 1995 from a single vineyard block on lighter soils at the Kir-Yianni estate, Ramnista was built to show a more fragrant, finer-tannin side of Xinomavro than the estate's blended Naoussa bottlings.
