Werner Morandell's Lieselehof at Kaltern produces the Vino del Passo dessert wine from the fungus-resistant Solaris variety (a PIWI variety not authorised in most Italian DOC rules). Sabiona is the Eisacktaler White Wine Festival held in the Capuchin Garden of Klausen on a Friday evening in early June, 5pm to midnight. Eisacktal producers pour by grape variety, making it the single best Eisacktaler white-wine traverse of the year.

Kalterer Weintage late tasting ★ 4.6

Kalterer Weintage opens the Caldaro village main square for two evenings of late tasting in early September, from 6pm. Cantina Kaltern, Manincor, Lieselehof and the smaller private producers pour the current-vintage Schiava, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon and Lagrein. The 2026 edition is 3-4 September.

The list: Two evenings of Caldaro producers; Schiava-Kalterersee verticals, Manincor biodynamic range, Cantina Kaltern Riserva tier; about 150 wines poured

Tip: Schiava from Kalterersee is the headline pour. Pair with a swim in the lake the same afternoon and dinner at Schwarzer Adler before the late tasting.
