Ktima Mitravelas Nemea ★ 4.3

PDO NemeaAgiorgitikoaround 16.70 euros at retail in Greecestill-red

Mitravelas lists this under its Ktima family of wines as a PDO Nemea red. The cellar sits on Christopoulou street in the town and the family has grown Agiorgitiko here for five generations.

Tip: If you like it, the estate's Old Vines bottling is the same fruit taken much further, at roughly four times the price.

Ergo Nemea ★ 4.1

PDO NemeaAgiorgitikoaround 12.20 euros at retail in Greecestill-red

Ergo is one of the labels Ktima Lantides lists on its own site, a Nemea red from a cellar that makes about 200,000 bottles a year off 170 stremmata of owned vineyard plus contracted growers.

Tip: Lantides takes walk in visitors Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, and there is a magnum of this wine if you are buying for a table.

Semeli Nemea Reserve ★ 4.3

PDO NemeaAgiorgitikoaround 14.30 euros at retail in Greecestill-red

The reserve level Nemea from the Semeli cellar at Koutsi, listed among the estate's red wines. Semeli was founded in 1979 and runs fixed tour times most days of the week.

Tip: Koutsi sits high enough that Semeli's fruit keeps acidity. Worth tasting next to a plain bottling from the valley floor.

Semeli Nemea Grande Reserve ★ 4.4

PDO NemeaAgiorgitikoaround 24.20 euros at retail in Greecestill-red

The top Nemea in the Semeli red range, listed on the estate's own wines page. At about twenty four euros it is the last bottle in the zone that still clears the twenty five euro line.

Tip: Released with several years behind it. Semeli also bottles this in magnum, which turns up in Athens shops at more than twice the price.

Ktima Driopi Nemea Classic ★ 4.2

PDO NemeaAgiorgitikoaround 12.30 euros at retail in Greecestill-red

The Classic bottling from Ktima Driopi at Koutsi, the Nemea arm of the Tselepos family. The cellar does not receive visitors, so this is a bottle you buy in town or in Athens.

Tip: Koutsi fruit at about twelve euros. A useful reference point for what the village gives before oak is added.

Skouras Nemea Agiorgitiko ★ 4.2

PDO NemeaAgiorgitikoaround 11.40 euros at retail in Greecestill-red

The straight Nemea bottling from the Skouras cellar at Malandreni, made from Agiorgitiko alone and listed on the estate's own range page as a dry red. Sold in Athens for a little over eleven euros.

Tip: The cheapest way into the Skouras range. Taste it beside the estate's Grande Cuvee to see what the extra ten euros buys.
