A four-star boutique hotel inside 16th century castle walls at Ceglo, with a restaurant holding a Michelin Plate under chef Mitja Humar and a vinoteka drawing on producers from the whole region.
The list: A wine room inside the hotel that gathers bottles from across Brda rather than from one estate, with tastings and a full wine list alongside the restaurant.
Tip: It is the one place in Brda where you can taste across many estates after the cellars have shut for the day.

The one Brda address with a kitchen that runs to 22:00 five nights a week, serving the estate's amber wines with them. Rooms are on the same site.
The list: The estate's own skin-contact whites, from seven to sixty days on skins and then two to three years in 225 litre French oak, poured with the kitchen's tasting menu.
Tip: Booking is required for both the table and the tasting, and the estate keeps rooms so you do not have to drive the ridge roads afterwards.

A Medana homestead whose name dates to 1898, with a restaurant, its own cellar, a conference room and eight rustic rooms and two apartments on the property.
The list: Wines from the family's own Medana cellar poured with a menu that changes weekly, two set menus a day.
Tip: The prosciutto, salami and pancetta are cured under the same roof and are served at the family's other house inside the Šmartno walls.

Šmartno
A restored homestead in the centre of the walled village of Šmartno, with a street terrace, a weekly-changing menu and rooms on the floor above.
The list: Brda wines from the family's Belica cellar in Medana, poured with two daily menus built on local and home-grown ingredients.
Tip: In spring and summer there is a menu built on fresh fish from the Soča, which is unusual this far up the hills.

Biljana
A Biljana house that makes nothing but traditional method sparkling. Guided visits with a tasting run Saturdays at 11:00 and 15:00 and take in two cellars.
The list: Traditional method sparkling wine only, from Cuvée Prestige and Brut Zero through Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs to the long-aged Status.
Tip: Weekday tastings have to be arranged in advance. The Saturday slots are the only fixed ones.
