What it pairs with

  • Canard confit
Iron-rich Morgon cuts through the confit fat while dark fruit complements duck.
  • Daube de sanglier
Volcanic, earthy Gamay matches the gamey depth of slow-braised wild boar.
  • Époisses au stade parfait
The most pungent washed-rind cheese finds a structured adversary in Côte du Py.

History

Christophe Pacalet (cousin of Marcel Lapierre) works as a négociant-éleveur buying fruit and finished wine from trusted growers, vinifying without sulphur. His Côte du Py represents the iconic volcanic hill of Morgon at its most mineral.

  1. 2003 — Christophe Pacalet establishes his négociant operation in Beaujolais
  2. 2004 — Morgon Côte du Py first released as Pacalet's top natural Beaujolais cuvée
