Aroma: blackcurrant, dark violet, smoky mineral, clove

Palate: black cherry, dark plum, tar, spice, volcanic rock

Named for the chapel atop Mont Brouilly, this single-parcel Gamay shows the deepest volcanic expression of the Côte: dark fruit, tar and rocky mineral structure.

What it pairs with

  • Daube de boeuf provençale
Full body and firm tannin match slow-braised beef.
  • Canard aux cerises
Dark-fruit and spice mirror duck-cherry preparation.
  • Comté 24 mois
Aged Comté's crystalline texture softens the wine's tannic grip.

History

La Chapelle is named after the Notre-Dame-du-Raisin chapel perched on the summit of Mont Brouilly, a landmark of the Côte de Brouilly appellation. The cuvée is drawn from a steep parcel closest to the chapel itself.

  1. 2010 — La Chapelle first vinified as a standalone parcel cuvée at Château Thivin
