Grüner Veltliner Smaragd from the Tausendeimerberg site at Spitz; white pepper, pear and citrus-mineral character in a medium-bodied frame.

What it pairs with

  • Tafelspitz with chive cream and apple horseradish
Classic Wachau pairing; the pepper-apple notes echo the dish's garnish.
  • Grilled carp with dill
Medium body and mineral freshness suit the richly flavoured river fish.
  • Asparagus with Parma ham
Herbal and pepper notes complement asparagus; acidity cuts through the ham fat.

History

Gritsch Mauritiushof is one of the oldest estates in central Spitz (founded 1835). The Tausendeimerberg Grüner Veltliner Smaragd was first bottled in 1993, reflecting the family's commitment to the terrace sites above the village.
