Cantina Terlano's flagship Gewurztraminer from south-southwest slopes at 300-400 metres. Dry-finished with an intensive light-golden colour, fine-grained exotic tropical aromas, and the saline mineral character that distinguishes Terlano whites.

What it pairs with

  • Sweet-and-sour Asian dishes
Lunare's exotic fruit and ginger notes mirror Asian aromatics while saline minerality cuts the sweetness.
  • Grilled scorpion fish or swordfish
The wine's full body and salty minerality match firm Mediterranean fish.
  • Squash gnocchi with walnuts and Alba truffles
Sweet squash and earthy truffle find a peer in Lunare's tropical-fruit-and-spice register.

History

Cantina Terlano launched Lunare in the mid-2000s as the cellar's selection-tier Gewurztraminer, sourcing from south-southwest slopes around 300-400 metres altitude. The Terlano style frames Gewurztraminer with saline minerality rather than residual sweetness.

Frequently asked about Lunare Gewurztraminer

What does Lunare Gewurztraminer taste like?

Grapefruit, lime, lychee and rose leaf on the nose; exotic tropical fruit, ginger, saline minerality and spice on the palate. Full-bodied, dry-finished, with medium acidity and a long aromatic finish.

When should I drink Lunare?

Drink between 3 and 12 years from vintage. Young vintages show fresh exotic fruit and rose; cellared bottles develop honey and saffron complexity.

What food pairs with Lunare?

Sweet-and-sour Asian dishes, grilled scorpion fish or swordfish, or squash gnocchi with walnuts and truffles. The wine's full body and aromatic intensity suit rich, spice-led dishes.

How is Lunare different from Tramin's Nussbaumer?

Both are dry selection-tier Gewurztraminers but from different terroirs: Lunare from Terlano's quartz-porphyry (driven by saline minerality), Nussbaumer from Tramin's porphyry-limestone (more aromatic intensity).
