Palate: red cherry, almond, smooth

Intense ruby St. Magdalener blend from the Santa Maddalena slopes above Bolzano at 250 to 500 m: violet and rose aromatics over red cherry and raspberry, full and smooth with marzipan signature on the finish.

What it pairs with

  • Carne salada
Trentino cured beef finds a perfect register-match in the wine's red-cherry fruit.
  • Game ragu pasta
Schiava's softness cushions venison ragu; the Lagrein backbone keeps the wine in the conversation.
  • Speck
Smoked cured ham is the canonical Alto Adige pairing for St. Magdalener.
  • Canederli (bread dumplings)
Bread, speck and chive dumplings demand a soft red; Schiava's gentle tannins are tailor-made.
  • Hard mountain cheese
Aged Bergkase pulls the marzipan note forward.
