Lageder's flagship Chardonnay from the best Loewengang parcels in Magre at 230-330 metres. The vines are among the oldest in Alto Adige (approximately 145 years). This was the first South Tyrolean white to position itself on international markets in the 1980s.
What it pairs with
-
Lobster with vanilla beurre blanc
The wine's buttery lees and stone fruit meet sweet shellfish; vanilla echoes oak ageing. -
Roast capon with sage
Full-bodied white pairs with white meat; high acidity cuts butter, mineral spine balances sage. -
Truffle risotto
Loewengang's complexity flatters truffle without overwhelming; lees-driven texture matches risotto. -
Aged Parmigiano-Reggiano
Mature alpine cheese matches the wine's depth and old-vine concentration.
History
Loewengang Chardonnay has characterised the history of the Lageder estate, and in the 1980s it was the first white wine from Alto Adige to successfully position itself on international markets. The grandfather recognised the potential of the Magre terroir and the father created the Loewengang Chardonnay; the old vines (approximately 145 years) are among the oldest in Alto Adige.
