What it pairs with

  • Apple cake with cinnamon
The wine's dried-fruit and spice notes harmonise with the warm baked apple filling.
  • Mild goat's cheese with honeycomb
Sweet Szamorodni's moderate sweetness pairs gently with soft cheese and floral honey.
  • Peach sorbet
The wine's apricot and peach notes echo the stone-fruit dessert.

History

Szamorodni (from Polish 'samo rodni' meaning self-ripened) is made from whole unclustered bunches containing varying proportions of botrytised grapes. The sweet (édes) style contains more aszú berries. Bognár Pince has maintained both styles of Szamorodni alongside Aszú production.
