Tenuta Gatti's Pinot Nero, grown at altitude on the Nebrodi slopes in northern Sicily, is one of Italy's southernmost Pinot Nero bottlings: light, mineral and earthy with the Nebrodi altitude moderating what would otherwise be an impossible growing zone for the variety.

What it pairs with

  • Roast guinea fowl
Pinot Nero's delicacy and earthiness suit lean game birds.
  • Mushroom risotto
Forest-floor earthiness and light tannin complement mushroom risotto naturally.
  • Grilled salmon
One of the few reds suited to grilled salmon due to its light body and high acidity.

History

Tenuta Gatti cultivates Pinot Nero at altitude on the Nebrodi slopes, making it one of the very few estates in Sicily experimenting seriously with the variety. The cooler Nebrodi microclimate makes this unusual experiment viable and produces a distinctly Sicilian take on Pinot Nero.
