Aroma: dried cherry, dried violet, tobacco, cedar, dried herbs, orange peel
Palate: morello cherry, tobacco, cedar, dried herb, light leather, mineral freshness
Le Salette's estate Amarone Classico, from the high-altitude Fumane vineyards farmed by Monica Scamperle, shows the distinctive freshness and orange-peel note that characterise the estate's high-elevation fruit; a more approachable entry to the Le Salette style than the Pergole Vece.
What it pairs with
-
Braised pork cheeks with root vegetables
Medium tannin and cherry-tobacco notes complement the fatty richness of long-braised pork. -
Aged Grana Padano
Northern Italian hard cheese with salt and umami is a reliable complement to classic-zone Amarone.
History
Le Salette's estate Amarone Classico was established by Franco Scamperle shortly after founding the estate in 1986, drawing from the high Fumane hillside fruit that would later produce the single-vineyard Pergole Vece.
