What it pairs with
-
Aged Manchego with quince paste
The wine's firm acidity and sweetness pair with the crystalline sheep's cheese and its fruit accompaniment. -
Almond cake with apricot jam
Stone-fruit character in Erdőbénye Aszú echoes the apricot-and-almond combination. -
Smoked duck with cherries
Smoky richness and tart cherry are balanced by the wine's sweetness and acidity.
History
Botrytis develops consistently in Erdőbénye's autumn micro-fogs despite the higher elevation; the forest-sheltered site retains morning humidity that encourages noble rot on the thicker-skinned Hárslevelű grapes. First Aszú from the estate certified under post-2013 rules.
- 2016 — First Erdei Pince Aszú 5 Puttonyos certified under post-2013 PDO framework
