Aroma: toasted almonds, sea salt, dried chamomile, biscuit, light hazelnut

Palate: walnut, saline mineral, dried apple, orange oil, subtle rancio

The reserve tier of Argüeso's Manzanilla range: aged beyond the standard San León with partial flor die-back, yielding additional almond and mineral complexity while retaining bright salinity.

What it pairs with

  • Grilled sea bass with lemon butter
The wine's mineral salinity and almond depth elevate delicate grilled fish.
  • Pulpo a la gallega
Galician-style octopus with paprika and olive oil is a natural match for aged Manzanilla.
  • Aged Tetilla or Roncal cheese
Semi-firm Spanish cheeses with grassy notes pair with the wine's nutty, saline character.

History

The Reserva de Familia is Argüeso's premium Manzanilla Pasada, kept in the family's private solera for longer than the San León standard. The Pasada classification indicates extended under-flor ageing with partial flor recession, producing a wine that bridges the freshness of Manzanilla and the complexity of Amontillado within the Sanlúcar denomination.

  1. 1822 — Argüeso family soleras established in the Barrio Bajo
  2. 1980 — Reserva de Familia label created as a limited upper tier
