Aroma: red cherry, plum, soft spice, violet, light cedar

Palate: bright red fruit, polished tannins, floral finish, light mineral

The second wine of Angelus, Merlot-dominant with a forward, polished character. Bright red fruit, soft spice and floral tones make it approachable younger than the grand vin while retaining the estate's Merlot generosity.

What it pairs with

  • Roast chicken with tarragon
Medium-weight fruit and restrained oak work with mild poultry; herbal tarragon echoes the floral register.
  • Grilled pork tenderloin
Polished tannins complement lean pork; bright acidity lifts the dish.
  • Soft-ripened cheese such as Brie
Creamy Brie integrates with the wine's gentle tannin; fruit enhances mild dairy notes.

History

Le Carillon de l'Angelus was first produced in the 1987 vintage, one of the earliest second wines created on the Right Bank. Named after the estate's bell-tower motif, it draws on a variable blend of parcels to deliver an accessible, forward style. The wine has evolved alongside the grand vin and reflects high production standards throughout.
