The approachable second wine of Chasse-Spleen from the Moulis AOC: Merlot-driven, with enticing red fruit and soft tannins, ready to enjoy without extended cellaring.

What it pairs with

  • Duck confit
The wine's Merlot-driven softness and red fruit complement the richness of duck confit.
  • Grilled pork ribs
Soft tannins and fresh fruit are a relaxed companion for slow-cooked or grilled pork ribs.
  • Mild hard cheeses
Gentle tannins and easy fruit forwardness pair without tension with milder cheeses.

History

L'Oratoire de Chasse-Spleen was introduced in 1982 alongside L'Ermitage as one of the estate's second wine options, produced from the Moulis appellation parcels. Its higher Merlot proportion compared to the grand vin provides earlier drinkability.
