What it pairs with

  • Wild boar ragu with pasta
The wine's full-bodied depth and old wood notes match the intensity of game meat slow-cooked with aromatics.
  • Torta del Casar
The pungent creamy sheep's milk cheese from Extremadura is well matched by very old Oloroso.
  • Aged Manchego with membrillo
Old dry Oloroso, hard cheese and quince paste is a classic Andalusian combination.

History

De la Riva's Oloroso Viejo is the old Oloroso from the almacenista house's historic cellar, maintained in American oak butts from the early 19th century. The wine has been drawn for supply to the Lustau Almacenista programme as well as direct export to specialist importers who seek out old-solera almacenista wines.

  1. 1820 — Old Oloroso solera established at Bodegas de la Riva
  2. 1985 — De la Riva Oloroso featured in Lustau's Almacenista launch
