What it pairs with
-
Roquefort or blue cheese
Botrytised sweetness and high acidity are a textbook match for intense blue cheese. -
Liver pâté with toast
The wine's sweetness and acidity cut through rich liver preparations. -
Peach tart
Stone-fruit flavours in the wine amplify the dessert's character.
History
Five-puttonyos Aszú represents the traditional mid-range of Tokaj PDO sweet wine, made by macerating hand-selected aszú berries in must or wine. The 5 Puttonyos designation requires a minimum of 120 g/L residual sugar. The 2013 reform removed the 3 and 4 puttonyos categories.
- 2013 — Post-2013 PDO reform: only 5 and 6 Puttonyos designations remain; Almási first certified bottling under the new rules
