What it pairs with

  • Monastery-style roast pork
Full-bodied Grüner with pepper spice stands up to rich, traditional roasted pork.
  • Wiener Schnitzel
Classic Austrian pairing: the pepper and acidity cut through breaded veal.
  • Grilled carp
Kremstal Grüner Veltliner is a natural Danube-fish companion.

History

Stift Göttweig has cultivated vines since its founding as a Benedictine monastery in 1083. The estate's 30 hectares fall within the Kremstal DAC appellation (east of the Wachau). The Grüner Veltliner Reserve was established as the estate's premium cuvée in the 1990s as quality improved under monastic stewardship.
