What it pairs with
-
Grilled duck breast with fig compote
Dark fruit and Mourvedre depth handle duck's richness and the fig's sweetness. -
Roasted leg of lamb with thyme
Classic Grenache-lamb pairing; herb notes echo the Provencal seasoning. -
Slow-cooked wild boar with olives
Inky fruit and tobacco notes complement gamey slow-cooked boar.
History
La Mordoree was founded in the 1980s in Tavel and expanded into Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The Reine des Bois ('Queen of the Woods') is the estate's flagship Chateauneuf, blending old Grenache with Mourvedre for depth and ageing potential.
- 1995 — Reine des Bois first produced as a distinct Chateauneuf cuvee
- 2010 — La Mordoree's Chateauneuf recognised among the appellation's top estates
