In the glass
Aroma: white flowers, lemon blossom, fresh citrus, green apple, chalk
Palate: grapefruit, white peach, herb, mineral, fresh acidity
A dry white Bordeaux introduced in 2014 from the Lafaurie-Peyraguey estate in Bommes. Sauvignon Blanc-dominant with Semillon adding body; white flowers, lemon blossom, and fresh citrus lead a mineral, herb-tinged palate. An accessible entry into the Sauternes estate's terroir as a dry expression.
What it pairs with
-
Grilled sea bass with herbs
Crisp acidity and herbal notes complement delicate fish; the mineral drive cleanses each bite. -
Chevre frais salad
Classic Sauvignon Blanc and goat cheese pairing; the wine's citrus acidity amplifies the fresh cheese flavour. -
Asparagus vinaigrette
High acidity and herbal freshness align naturally with asparagus; vinaigrette's tartness is echoed in the wine.
History
Le Lys de Lafaurie-Peyraguey was introduced in 2014, the year after Silvio Denz acquired the estate, as a dry white wine that offers an accessible entry to the Bommes terroir. It demonstrates the Sauternes estate's flexibility in producing both sweet and dry wines from its exceptional Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc plantings.
