What it pairs with

  • Fresh fruit and cream
The floral, light sweetness of Moscatel enhances fresh tropical or summer fruits.
  • Almond pastries (polvorones)
Traditional Andalusian almond shortbread is naturally complemented by aromatic Moscatel.
  • Light custard tart
The honey sweetness of Moscatel mirrors the egg custard and pastry of tarts.

History

Bodegas Medina produces Moscatel from Moscatel de Alejandría grapes grown in the sandy soils near Sanlúcar and Chipiona, where this grape variety has historically thrived. Moscatel sherry is a distinct style from Pedro Ximénez: lighter in body, more floral and aromatic, and less intensely concentrated.
