In the glass
Aroma: Morello cherry, rose hip, ash, iron
Palate: sour cherry, blood orange, graphite, mineral
San Lorenzo's lower-altitude vines yield a more accessible Terre Nere red: fragrant, iron-streaked, with vibrant sour-cherry acidity and a mineral iron finish.
What it pairs with
-
Pasta al sugo di pomodoro fresco
The wine's tomato-like acidity and cherry fruit harmonise beautifully with fresh tomato sauce. -
Grilled red snapper with lemon
The lighter body and acidity pair elegantly with delicate fish. -
Charcuterie of Sicilian salumi
Red-fruit brightness and iron notes cut through cured pork fat.
History
The San Lorenzo contrada is the most accessible of the Terre Nere single-contrada range, with vines at lower elevations producing a more immediately approachable style than Guardiola or Calderara. The 2003 vintage was the launch year for the entire single-contrada programme.
