Palate: red cherry, rosemary, iron, soft leather

The everyday Montevertine. Same field blend, shorter cask, brighter cherry and softer tannin: built for a Tuesday table.

What it pairs with

  • Pizza margherita
The wine's red-cherry brightness and medium tannin meet tomato acid and mozzarella creaminess.
  • Tagliatelle al ragu
Beef-and-tomato ragu calls for Sangiovese's red fruit and acid lift.
  • Roast poultry with sage
Sage and roast chicken with the wine's herbal core is a Radda weeknight.

History

Pian del Ciampolo entered the Montevertine line-up around 1991 as a younger-drinking bottling drawn from across the estate's parcels. Same field-blend recipe as the namesake Montevertine; shorter wood means earlier accessibility and a lower price.
