Aroma: wild strawberry, raspberry, red flowers, garrigue, fresh stone

Palate: bright cherry, soft tannin, lavender, mineral precision, long fresh finish

A more elegant, mineral-driven Chateauneuf with high-toned red fruit, precision, and purity. Charvin's approach favours natural winemaking with minimal intervention.

What it pairs with

  • Roast pigeon with foie gras
Light-to-medium-bodied Grenache elegance is a sommelier classic with pigeon.
  • Pan-fried duck breast
Red fruit and floral notes complement duck without overwhelming it.
  • Roasted lamb with lavender
Lavender notes in the wine find an echo in the Provencal herb crust.

History

Laurent Charvin took over from his father in 1991, converting to organic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking. The domaine farms sandy and galets soils in the lieu-dit Orange road of Chateauneuf, producing an unusually elegant and precise expression of Grenache.

  2. 2005 — International critics begin to recognise Charvin as a distinct, elegant house style
