In the glass
Aroma: black cherry, garrigue, graphite, leather
Palate: blackberry, savoury herb, iron, fennel
Mourvedre-led estate red from Begude's high amphitheatre. Garrigue and graphite-driven with iron grip; the estate's classic AOC Bandol bottling.
What it pairs with
-
Roast leg of lamb with thyme
Begude's garrigue and graphite mirror Provencal herb cooking; tannins handle the lamb fat. -
Boeuf en daube
Provencal red-wine and orange-peel beef stew finds a peer in the wine's leather and savoury depth. -
Aged Comte
Hazelnut and brown-butter cheese aligns with the wine's mature leather and dark-fruit register. -
Confit duck leg with lentils
Duck fat and earthy lentils meet Mourvedre's iron and fennel-herb edge.
History
Begude's first Mourvedre-led estate red was bottled in 1997 after the Tari family began full vineyard renovation. The cuvee established the estate as a serious Bandol producer and remains the entry point to the line.
- 1996 — Tari family takes over Begude and begins vineyard renovation
- 1997 — First commercial Bandol Rouge under Tari management
- 2010 — Estate certified organic
